~ Current Lake information in regards to California drought and Huntington Lake levels ~
As many Californians know, our state is in a drought status. This winter did not pan out as we all had hoped in the matter of snow fall in our Sierra. We received very little, according to the most recent measurement, we now have 14% of normal snow pack in our Sierra. This is worse than last years 20% of normal. We received precipitation in the form of rain which saturated the ground well but did not end up in the lakes.
This year, 2015, we can expect Huntington to be about the same as last year holding about 30K acre feet. The lake will fluctuate and there is no telling what will really happen as Hutington Lake could be as much as 60K or 70K acre feet during parts of the summer. We have to wait and see how it will progress but for now, we really only have a plan to go by that is put into place by SCE and the State Water Recources Control Board. The water allocations change with demand so there is no telling what will happen just a plan for what might happen.
